The form defying, decorative jewelery adorning a young Ndebele maiden.
Her serene pose nearly convinced me to correct the flaws in her face - the lump on her cheek, scar on her eyebrow and the discoloration on her nose, but I decided to be faithful to her noble dignity.
I underestimated the difficulty in getting the gold rings around her neck to look convincing and I totally blew my time schedule with the beads resting on her shoulders....
Hopefully though, it worked out in the end.
The scan is not the best - my apologies. Acrylic paint and pencil on MDF board.
Amazing! I'd say it was definitely worth the time you put in on the beads and rings. She has such a beautiful aura about her. I'm glad you keep the imperfections with her skin and such, adds that dose of individuality.
This is truly amazing. I'm glad you stayed true to her appearance, I think this woman is amazing. I have always had a fascination with the way they adorn themselves, I think it's beautiful, and you captured it so well. I love the detail in the beads on her shoulders

This is incredible. I think the flaws in her face help, not hinder this piece. Her humanity is very clear in this piece. It's heart-wrenching and joyous at the same time. I am inspired.

Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
